Lionsmark Capital was founded by Darren Sugiyama (based out of Orange County, California) and Jeff Faine (based out of Orlando, Florida).
Darren Sugiyama began his career as a counselor in a gang-prevention program in Long Beach, California, and in Halawa Prison in Honolulu, Hawaii. He eventually decided to pursue his entrepreneurial aspirations, and in 2003, Darren founded Apex Outsourcing Insurance Services which became the #1 brokerage firm in the country with Kaiser Permanente, #1 in the country with Health Net, #2 in the state of California with Aetna, #1 in Orange County, California with Blue Shield.
In 2012, Darren launched DaVinci Financial, a multi-office life insurance firm. In 2017, DaVinci was responsible for over 25% of Pacific Life’s policy count in Orange County, California, and in 2019, accounted for 39% of Penn Mutual's life insurance policy sales in the county.
Darren is the acclaimed author of How I Built A $37 Million Insurance Agency In Less Than 7 Years, along with six additional published books distributed internationally, and is a nationally acclaimed motivational speaker.
In 2016, Darren co-founded Lionsmark Capital with ex-NFL star Jeff Faine.
Darren is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University where he was team captain of the baseball team. He holds a B.A. in Sociology from LMU, and a M.Ed. in Multicultural Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Darren is married and currently lives with his wife and son in Orange County, California.
Jeff Faine began his 10-year NFL career as a first-round draft pick - 21st overall - as a center for the Cleveland Browns in 2003.
He went on to play for the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jeff was the first center to ever be drafted in the first-round by an NFL team and at one point was the highest paid center in the entire NFL.
Jeff was first introduced to the concept of premium financing as a client during his football career, and upon retiring from the NFL, he began a career in premium financing.
In 2017, Jeff was recognized by Pacific Life as an industry Top 40 Under 40 and is greatly respected in the life insurance industry as a Premium Financing expert.
In addition to his successful business ventures, Jeff also founded The Faine House, a charitable foundation that houses youths who have aged out of the foster care system, helping them prepare for the real world by teaching them invaluable life skills.
Jeff is a graduate of Notre Dame University and holds a B.A. in Business Administration.
Jeff is married and currently lives with his wife and two sons in Orlando, Florida.
Pete Georgiadis founded Synetro - a non-traditional private investment and strategic advisory group - in 2000, Pete has been an active investor and contributor to the success of multiple web-based technology and business services companies, including Insurance Noodle, Inc. (sold to Willis Holdings in 2007), Knowledge Advisors, Inc, (sold to Conference Executive Board in 2014), CrossCheck Compliance, and dScout. He also has led the turnaround of Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet, Corporate Synergies Group and Promisec.
Prior to founding Synetro Group, Pete was the Chief Operating Officer of Lante Corporation where he led the strategic repositioning and operating transformation of the company from an established systems integrator into a high-growth internet consulting leader. He also prepared the company for a successful IPO.
Pete joined Lante from McKinsey and Company, where he was an Associate Principal and a leader in the firm’s Marketing and Sales & Channel Management practices. While at McKinsey, he worked with multiple global manufacturing and distribution companies across industries to accelerate growth and transform their performance with superior customer-driven strategies, operations, organizations and technology. Prior to McKinsey, he worked for Hewlett-Packard and Orco Ltd. in several marketing and general management roles in the UK, Switzerland and Greece.
He holds a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Sussex (UK), an M.Sc. in Computer Science from London’s Imperial College, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Pete serves on the boards of CrossCheck Compliance LLC, dScout, Inc., and Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet LLC. Pete is actively involved in the Chicago business community, and a committed supporter of a number of education and social service delivery organizations.
Pete is married with three children and splits time between Chicago, Illinois and Park City, Utah.
Simo Kamppari became a partner at Synetro Group focused on shaping the strategy and driving the operating performance of Synetro portfolio companies.
He has a 20 year track record of leading organizational change from bottom-up and top-down.
Simo is actively engaged with a number of our portfolio companies at the board level, and in active operational roles ranging from finance, to strategy, to CEO.
Simo joined Synetro in 2010 from McKinsey and Company where he was a consultant for five years, working with technology, financial services and education clients on board level issues related to strategy, operational performance improvement, and organizational design.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Simo was a Group Manager at Oracle Corporation. In this role he led the development of applications software for sales analysis and budgeting, and drove numerous enhancements to the software development approach utilized by the organization.
Simo specializes in fintech for Lionsmark Capital and is instrumental in building algorithms to model our premium financing platforms in our proprietary software.
Simo holds a B. Sc. and M. Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Simo is married and currently lives with his wife and two children near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
